more upcycling - pjs to lunch bag!

my boy's glow in the dark skeleton pajamas are sadly outgrown!
i've been "trying" to take them to the charity shop
but i just couldn't do it
so inspired by MeridianAriel
i did this instead!

no it's not a ribcage vest
although that would be cool!

after sewing along the bottom edge
{please ignore the awful stitching
me and my machine have a love/hate relationship
mostly based on pure spitting hatred}

i slightly shaped the bottom
and i also hemmed the other edges.

and now my son has a new school lunch bag!
cool!
i was inspired by this tutorial
by MeridianAriel

http://meridianariel.blogspot.com/2010/04/upcycled-tshirt-projectbook-bag.html

she just got a fancy new sewing machine for her birthday
so watch out for other new sewing projects on her blog :o)

custom order flowers

i made these for an online friend for her little girl
who is taking part in a dance competition.
They had to be pure white but not too bridal looking.

I would've liked to have used sew on crystals
but there were none to be found in my tiny town
and they were a last minute rush job
so the diamontes were recycled from some clothing and glued on!

"time for tea swap"

here is what i sent to my swap partner Kat

a tiny pincuchion - recycled from a dolls teacup
decoupaged with old dress pattern paper
and a phrase cut from a Shakespeare play!

"hello"

one of my beloved PG Tips monkeys
altered into a "princess"
complete with tea-ara

{ssshh that's Dp's joke but i'm passing it off as my own!}

mad hatter's tea party brooch

close up of the little pin cushion
i did secure it a bit better before i sent it
but forgot to take more photos

also if Kat is in the mood for vodoo she could use
the whole monkey as a pin cushion!

and lastly here is the card i made to go with the package

********

this was a very recycled kind of swap project
i bought nothing new to make my items with
and happily used my stash of thrifted and vintage trims & books
even the tea cup and tiny spoon were toys my daughter has outgrown

*******

there is a flickr group with all the other participents swap goods too
for some bizarre reason i can't seem to add links on my blog anymore???
if you go into my flickr you will find the group though!

*******

a big thank-you to Blottedcopybook for organising this swap xxx

we make folksy angels christmas competition

*EDITED*
i entered the folksy angels christmas decoration competition - the brief was to make a decoration from recycled items or items from your craft stash - no buying new supplies!

here's my entry - as usual i worked right up to the deadline and submitted my entry only to find the deadline had been extended! So my photo ain't great as i had to photograph in artificial light - bah!

i choose this photo as my entry as a especially liked the view of the chaos which is my craft table behind her!!!

i made my angel with help from my sizzix machine - she is made of totally recycled papers - her body is from a dried dog food bag - her wings from a foil crisp packet, newspaper and vintage sheet music - her dress is from vintage sheet music and her hair is from a page from a vintage bible - her halo is made of copper wire rescued from my jewellery making stash, oh and some glitter an inevitable store cupboard need with toddler crafts!

please go and check out the other twenty-four entries and vote for you favourite here http://blog.folksy.com/2008/12/2/vote-for-t-angels now!

voting ends tomorrow - i think!

*****VOTING FINISHED - IF ANYONE DID READ THIS AND VOTED FOR ME THANK-YOU!
